What’s Our Story?
We met during our NLP Master Practitioner training during the early ’90s at the Institute of NLP in Austin, Texas, which was owned and run by two gifted NLP teachers — Andrea Rice and her partner, Dr. Jonathan Rice. We really didn’t get to work together until we took an NLP modeling class that was taught by David Gordon. During the class, Mike presented his model of how authors wrote and published books quickly and Tom shared his model of how attorneys developed masterful legal cases. After seeing each other’s presentations, we knew that we were destined to work together, applying NLP at work.
Our chance came within a year. Mike had left his position as executive director of the Institute of NLP and became the marketing director for a business performance-improvement consultancy. During this time, the insurance company Tom was helping to prepare for sale, sold. Mike called Tom in for some team projects at the consultancy. A year later, Mike was hired as a senior performance consultant by SEMATECH, an international consortium of semiconductor product manufacturers. Turns out 4 of the 7 performance consultants at SEMATECH were NLPers. Again, Mike called on Tom. For nearly 9 years, Mike and Tom worked together daily applying NLP on the job to all sorts of delightful and exciting performance issues.
As SEMATECH began to change its focus, Mike left to start his private coaching practice, Acorn Coaching. And, as you might imagine, a year later, Tom left SEMATECH to form his own instructional design and delivery company called Evolutionary Learning.

More About Tom
Tom, the other co-founder of RadioNLP.com, completed his B.A. degree in Psychology in the late ’80s. His first “real” job out of college was managing an emergency food assistance program for families in need. From there, he served for several years as the community affairs officer (PR guy) for a food bank. In this position, he worked with an industrial psychologist who used a combination of Michael Vance’s story-boarding methodology and Edward Deming’s quality approach to help the leadership team engineer a successful capital campaign. This was an excellent opportunity to participate on a high-performing team and learn about organizational development. He later went on to work for several years as a management analyst for an insurance company. After attending a wonderful University of Texas community education NLP class given by friend and colleague, Keith Fail, Tom signed up for classes at the Institute of NLP, met Mike, and earned the Practitioner, Master Practitioner, Modeling, and Training certifications. Through the years he has taken a host of other classes from various NLP instructors. Tom worked for nearly 10 years as Senior Performance Consultant and Coach for Sematech, eight of those side by side with Mike. Presently, Tom owns Evolutionary Learning, an instructional design and delivery company, teaches a regular NLP-based business class with Mike, and performs NLP modeling projects as often as he can with Mike. Tom is married to Susan, his partner for more than 20 years. They have five amazing and amusing children and live in Austin, Texas.
